The Man On The Throne - Chapter 4

                                                          Chapter-4
                     Inside The Museum

As soon as I set foot in museum I was filled with excitement and curiosity, I just knew there was a mystery waiting to be solved.

Before Mrs. Lacey could start her boring lectures me and Hannah slipped out of the group and started doing our little 'exploration.'

"This is what you call a field trip," Said Hannah, "No one to tell you what to do."

I just rolled my eyes.

"You do know that we could get into a lot of trouble IF we get caught," I said.

"I know," She said in a very cool voice. "Remember when I told you my dad works in the bank? Well that was a lie. My dad is actually an Egyptian Historian. He is supposed to be up-stairs in one of these research rooms with his team. He came back to the U.K only because he's checking out this new 'scroll' that he found on his previous trip."

I let my jaw drop.

"You would actually lie to ME, your best friend?" I said in a sulky manner. "I've told you all my deepest secrets."

"Well I promised  my dad that I would never tell anyone," she said.

"It's okay," I said. I didn't want to make a big fuss about something as silly as this.

"Let's just keep walking," I said.

I kept staring at the ground and the walls, NO I was not angry with Hannah, I was looking for clues.

Eventually both of us agreed that we should go back and join the class.

I whispered to Hannah, "I don't think anyone noticed our disappearance."

She nodded in agreement.

Suddenly I caught sight of a statue looking at me right in the eye! It was this Greek statue that had a man siting on a throne.

I started to move away toward the rest of the class, but that's when I realized that the statue wasn't looking at me but a tile on the floor that had a carving of the sun. It was faint because it had been stepped on for about a hundred-fifty years.(The museum was 150 years old) I wanted to push super hard on the tile and try re-carving the pattern on top of the original, but I didn't want to give away my discovery. I could do a secret research on that tile and if it opened a secret tunnel, but only problem was that I wasn't sure my second invitation to the museum would come as easily as this one.
